
COMPANY HISTORY
The company was formed in London in 1986 with the express intention of offering a more professional and reliable service than the industry was otherwise able to provide. In these early years the emphasis was on providing officers of a military level of appearance, self-reliance and motivation. This contrasted with the standard of officer publicly associated with the service and proved highly popular with London's bluechip companies. As industry pay and conditions has improved, Shield has been able to build on this foundation of reliability and motivation with recognised advancements in the areas of customer care and back of house and front of house service.
Expanding from our base in London, Shield opened a Thames Valley office in 1999 and a northern office in Manchester soon after. In 2008 we opened our National Training Centre near our headquarters in Kennington allowing us to keep expanding our commitment to training.
Now a national supplier our reputation has been strengthened through investment in the selection, recruitment and training of its officers and staff. All of whom are focused on providing a high quality service underpinned by top class management.
Constantly at the forefront of new standards and accreditations, we are ISO: 9001 compliant and are NSI Guarding Gold recipients. In our last round of SIA Approved Contractor Status scoring we achieved 131 out of 158. We are aware of none higher.
Shield has enjoyed strong organic growth and has focused its attention on retaining quality security contracts by adding value to its clients. Now with a turnover of £60 million Shield employs over 2000 officers across 300 sites nationally.
